Condition: Cold/Flu •  Wind-Heat
Treatment: Disperse wind, clear heat, induce detoxification, promote dispersing function of the Lung Qi.
Description: Severe fever, mild aversion to cold, sweating, headache, cough with yellow and thick sputum, dry, swollen and sore throat, nasal obstruction with yellow, thick discharge, thirst with desire for drinking, red tip and edges of the tongue, thin white or slight yellow coating, superficial and rapid pulse.
Comment: Combination of LI11 and LI4 clears the heat. Use LU7 and LU5 together for severe cough

Point Selection:
GB20 • Feng Chi • At the posterior head, at the junction of the occipital and nuchal regions, in the depression between the origins of Sternocleidomastoid and Trapezius muscles.
Wind Pool. Meeting Point on Gall Bladder Channel with the Triple Energizer Channel, Yang Linking and Yang Motility Vessels.
Explanation: Clears wind, stops headache.

GV14 • Daz Hui • Below the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra (C7).
Great Hammer. Meeting Point on the Governing Vessel with the six yang channels. Sea of Qi Point.
Explanation: Dispels wind (no moxa)

LI11 • Qu Chi • On the lateral side of the cubital crease when the elbow is close to full flexion.
Pool at the Bend. He Sea Point on the Large Intestine Channel. Earth Point on Metal Meridian.
Explanation: Very cold point, key point for sore throat

LI4 • He Gu • On the dorsum of the hand, approximately at the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone, in the belly of the first interosseus dorsalis muscle.
Contraindication: Do Not Needle If Pregnancy is known or suspected
Union Valley. Yuan Source Point on the Large Intestine Channel. Command Point of the Face and Mouth.
Explanation: Key point for sore throat

LU10 • Yu Ji • Midpoint on the thenar eminence, on the dorsal-palmar surface.
Fish Border. Ying Spring Point on the Lung Channel. Fire Point on Metal Meridian.
Explanation: Clears Lung heat
