Treatment: Tonify Spleen, warm the Kidney, strengthen Yang Qi, promote water metabolism.
Description: A slow onset of edema, light swelling of the face in the incipient stage, which spreads to the abdomen and whole body, especially the areas below the waist, depression appearing upon hand pressing rebound slowly, short urine, epigastric distension, loose stools, lassitude, intolerance of cold. weak limbs, pale tongue body, with white coating, deep thready or deep slow pulse.

Point Selection:
BL23 • Shen Shu • On the lower back, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra (L2).
CautionAvoid the Kidneys.
Kidney Shu. Back Shu of the Kidney that connects with Front Mu GB25.
Explanation: Warm and tonify.

CV6 • Qi Hai • On the lower abdomen, on the anterior midline, 1.5 cun inferior to the umbilicus.
Sea of Qi. Front Mu Point for Sea of Qi that connects with Back Shu BL24.
Explanation: Sea of Qi, moxa.

CV9 • Shui Fen • In the umbilical region, on the anterior midline, 1 cun superior to the umbilicus.
Water Divide.
Explanation: Water diversion.

KI3 • Tai Xi • On the medial ankle, at the midpoint between the prominence of the medial malleolus and Achille's Tendon.
Great Ravine. Shu Stream Point on the Kidney Channel. Yuan Source on the Kidney Channel. Earth Point on Water Meridian.
Explanation: Warm and tonify.

SP9 • Yin Ling Quan • On the medial leg, on the inferior border of the medial condyle of the tibia, in the depression between the posterior border of the tibia and gastrocnemius muscle.
Yin Mound Spring. He Sea Point on the Spleen Channel. Water Point on Earth Meridian.
